The Paris Agreement is an international treaty aimed at strengthening the global response to climate change by holding the increase in global average temperature to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and pursuing efforts to limit it to 1.5°C. It establishes a framework for countries to submit nationally determined contributions (NDCs) for emission reductions and adaptation efforts, which are to be regularly updated and reviewed. The agreement also includes provisions for financial support, technology transfer, and capacity-building for developing countries, and a transparency framework to track progress and foster mutual trust.
