Making Cities Resilient Workshop: Lilongwe Scorecard and DRR Strategy Drafting

In response, Lilongwe City Council, in collaboration with GIZ and UNDRR, seeks to strengthen local capacity for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) through an integrated, end-to-end capacity-building process.

This five-days’ workshop consolidates learning and practice by moving systematically from foundational concepts and risk assessment to the development and operationalization of a comprehensive Local DRR Strategy aligned with national priorities, the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The overall objective of this workshop is to strengthen the capacity of Lilongwe City Council and its stakeholders to plan, develop, and operationalize a comprehensive Local Disaster Risk Reduction Strategy that supports risk-informed urban development and resilience building.
