This second workshop follows the initial workshop that introduced Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) concepts, assessed local resilience through the Disaster Resilience Scorecard for Cities, and developed a DRR Action Plan.

This capacity building workshop, while promoting the importance of effective climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction, aims to:

  1. Strengthen the capacity of Kisumu County stakeholders in DRR strategy formulation.
  2. Provide methodologies and tools for developing a local resilience strategy aligned with national and international frameworks.
  3. Draft a first version of the DRR Strategy with key components, including risk profiles, strategy pillars, financing, and monitoring and evaluation.
  4. Share inspiring examples of DRR strategies implemented in other African cities
  5. Define a roadmap for the finalization, validation, and adoption of the strategy
  6. Serve as a platform to share good practices and exchange in-depth learning among participants
